Ethiopia: Election Board Makes Final Decision On UDJ, AEUP Leadership

The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) made it final decision on the fate of the leadership of the Unity for Democracy and Justice Party (UDJ), and the All Unity Ethiopian Party (AUEP), which earlier had their new presidents rejected due to an alleged breach of the bylaws of the parties.
This decision was disclosed during a press conference held at Hilton Addis Ababa by Merga Bekana (Prof.) head of the NEBE and Nega Dufessa secretary and head of the secretariat office of the election board.
UDJ will be headed by Tigistu Awelu while Abebaw Mehari will lead AEUP in the upcoming general election, which is scheduled for May 24.
Though the press conference was attended by more than 20 journalists the chair of the board ended the briefing without entertaining questions from the media.
